Update on the Native Z6000 now 4000 Miles driven.

I’ve now been driving my Z6000 for over two years. It’s still a great way to get around town but has had its share of problems. One brake fluid reservoir corroded and had to be replaced. I’ve had one tire replaced — the stock tires are sticky which results in great performance and not so great tread life.

I also had the seat replaced which wasn’t expensive but really didn’t last long in part because it was parked outside for extended periods. Some of the plastic cracked when they were servicing it and they replaced it (EMS) without charging me for what was quite a bit of labor.

In summary, I like the scooter but it’s been a bit of a headache to keep up with the issues that have arisen.

    Thanks for your mechanical report. I’ve been curious how electric vehicles will fare long-term by comparison to their gasoline cousins. Electrics have the potential to be far more reliable, perhaps after the kinks have been worked out, and it sounds as if your problems have largely been “peripheral,” having to do with things other than the motor and battery. Fingers crossed that your experience gets better from here.

      You are very welcome. I agree that electrics can and I believe will be much more reliable than ICE vehicles. My scooter like many was created to be inexpensive and corners were cut. Given the low quantities of two wheel vehicles that are sold in the U.S. and the even lower volume of two wheel electrics, it is not surprise that the first ones were of lower quality and reliability.

      I believe that higher end vehicles such as Brammo and Zero motorcycles should prove to be far more reliable, albeit at several times the cost of my scooter. Even the higher end GPR-S from Electric Motorsport is half the price of the higher end U.S. made competitors. As for serious problems with my scooter — the controller board had some problems and was replaced under warranty. The original lead acid batteries only retained a good range for the first 3500 miles or so. The motor has worked flawlessly.
